A day of research and discussion

The McGill Division of Geriatric Medicine Research Day will take place on November 3, 2026, at the Jewish General Hospital in Montréal. The programme brings together research presentations, invited speakers and opportunities to discuss new work in geriatric medicine.

The day will open with Dr. Kevin Schwartzman, Dr. Gustavo Duque and guest of honour Dr. Arthur Kleinman. A conversation with Dr. Kleinman, moderated by Dr. Howard Bergman and Dr. Gustavo Duque, will follow. Dr. Bruce R. Troen will deliver the keynote presentation.

Dr. Ruth Sapir-Pichhadze, Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at McGill University, will give the afternoon talk on publishing. The programme also includes oral research presentations in concise formats, an industry pitching session, awards and a networking reception.

Geripalooza: seed funding for a new research idea

Geripalooza invites teams to pitch a new research-project idea to scientific judges and the audience. The team with the highest combined score will receive seed funding to support its project; the funding amount will be announced.

The principal investigator must be a member of McGill’s Division of Geriatric Medicine, and the proposed project must not yet have started. Presenters may be at any career stage, from undergraduate students to senior researchers, and may include allied health professionals. At least two team members must attend in person on November 3.

Two members of each team will deliver the pitch together in Pecha Kucha format: 20 slides, with 20 seconds per slide, for a total of 6 minutes and 40 seconds. Teams should explain the idea, why it matters and their capacity to carry out the project.

Read the Geripalooza requirements and submission instructions.

Submit your work

Submissions for Geripalooza and oral presentations are open until Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Research protocols without results are eligible for oral presentation, although acceptance is not guaranteed and submissions with results may be prioritized.

Register for the event before submitting your contribution, using the same email address for both steps. The Fourwaves submission page provides the form and requirements for each submission type.
